'Standbye' Movie Poster
Created movie poster from children's film called Standbye. Ideas by Chris Dean, Haran Timana, Adam Dean and Sam Pearson. Photo edited by Sam Pearson.
Our class was set a group task to choose a movie genre then to think of an idea and then to create a poster to advertise the film. As a group we chose the film genre 'childrens/family'. After much debate we finally decided to go ahead with Chris' idea that there are little creatures living inside our everyday appliances, such as televisions, toasters, microwaves and music players. The main story is that the leader of the small creatures has left and the others cannot cope with the amount of work being made with new technologies being introduced in the household. I then came up with the title of the film, 'standbye'. This was a play on words with 'standby' and 'goodbye', our two main points in the movie.
We wanted our film to give off a message to children to stop leaving household appliances on standby and to help the environment.
When designing a rough idea of the advertisement poster we wanted to show the creatures living inside the television, with the human being completely oblivious to what's actually happening when leaving devices on standby. All the creatures are different in the poster and the one with the crown on shows that he is the leader of the other creatures.
Overall I think we achieved a great idea for a children's movie, with the poster really highlighting the key points that we wanted to address.
